The Fex Valley has long been an inspiration to writer, philosophers and artists. Visitors to the valley have included Marc Chagall, Thomas Mann, Hermann Hesse, Theodor Adorno, Karl Kraus, and, in the erliier period Friedrich Nietzsche. According to traditio, Ernest Hemingway also stayed in the Hotel. Enthralled by the valley's beauty and tranquility, all this artists returned again and again. Some of their work can be seen in the Segantini Museum in St. Moritz or in the "Nietzsche Haus" in Sils-Maria, where visitors are invited to take a stroll in the artist's footsteps. Altogether there is a wide range of cultural activities.
